Good day shopping! I normally do my Market shopping on Saturday but I have a bad cold and wasn’t up to it. I think it took me twice as long to even figure out the deals because I didn’t feel well. Rather than cough and “snot” my way through church this morning I decided to start my shopping early and get the people in the stores sick rather than everyone at church.
While last week was mostly cleaning supplies this week is more a shampoo and snacks week. Since my kids have been home from school the food keeps rapidly disappearing!

Kelly’s savings: Crystal Light!
Last modified on 2009-06-09 12:09:12 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

I had never been in Super Giant before today but the great deal on Crystal Light was too hard to resist. I was really surprised at how nice the store is! I wont hesitate to shop there in the future and while there I asked about their coupon policy. Amazingly enough they don’t really have one! If you have a coupon from anywhere, newspaper, internet printables, or competitors coupons they will take it and with NO limits. Whoo Hoo!! I just wish I got their ad in my weekly mail delivery.
On to the amazing deal. Remember all those Crystal Light Coupons from the past month or so that could be printed online? I have been printing and saving watching all the stores for crystal light to go on sale and had collected enough coupons for 24 crystal lights. Many of them expire tomorrow and I was about to head to Target to use a few. On a whim I checked out Super Giant’s website and Crystal Light was 2 for $4! I had $1/1 and $2/2 coupons so I came home with 24 cans of crystal light and one tube of kid’s toothpaste that we needed.
These coupons are STILL available!! Click HERE to print them.
Total before savings: $81.46 Bonus Card Savings :$30.96 MC Savings: $23.00 (one must not have scanned) For a OOP:$27.50 for 24 cans of crystal light and 1 toothpaste!

Just made a killing!! at Super Fresh. I have only been couponing since March so this was the first week of triples that I was prepared for and actually had the coupons everyone was mentioning.
Talk about FUN! $195 worth of stuff for $10.70. What a rush!
Go to Pennies Possibilities and Hot Coupon World to see where to get all the coupons. I had coupons for every item.

Kelly’s Savings: Rite Aid and Happy Harry’s 5/31
Last modified on 2009-06-01 02:09:06 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Well I am learning as I go and one key element of couponing is being flexible! Most of my plans for Rite Aid and Happy Harry’s changed while in the store. First, the prices were not the same as listed online in the forums. It seems like everything at regular price here is about $1 more. Second, make sure to read the ads correctly. I was fooled by one of the razor ads in Rite Aid and thought they were BOGO when the tiny print said shave gel was BOGO, so the scenarios I posted yesterday didn’t exactly work out but still did OK I think.
Here is the run down:
Happy Harry’s/Walgreens
I went in planning on using all those great Crystal Light coupons only to find out Crystal Light wasn’t on sale. Maybe it was a regional thing, I have no idea.
1 Speed Stick Deoderant - $1.99 (was on sale last week with a $1RR but they forgot to take the sign down. I had no idea until I questioned why the RR didn’t print and they checked on it. So I got the sale price but no RR.)
2 Ecotrin - $2/ea used two $2/1 coupons and got them FREE
2 Cutter Advanced - 2/$4 and used two $2/1 coupons and got them FREE
Total trip: $1.99 and got a $2 RR from the Ecotrin
Rite Aid - 2 Transactions
Transaction #1
4 Aveno Suntan Products - $43.96 ($10.99/ea)
B1G1 50% Off = -11.00
4 $2/1 Coupons = -8
$5/$25 Purchase = -5
Total OOP: 19.96
SCRs should qualify for:
#40 - $10 Off JJ Products
#47 - $5 Off any 3 Aveeno Skin Care
Making this in our region 4 bottles of suntain lotion for $4.96
I think I came up $.04 short for #500 - the free tote bag with samples.
Transaction #2
2 Coppertone Suntan Lotion - 2/$15 1 Aquafresh Toothpaste - $2.49 1 Daisy razor 12 pack - $4.99 1 Shick Quatro Women - $8.99 1 Shick Quatro Men and 4 pk refills - $11.39 These were BOGO 1 Raid Ant Spray - $2.99 2 Gum Floss - 2/$5 Coupons: $5/$25 $2/1 Daisy Razor $4/1 Shick Quatro Women $4/1 Shick Quatro Men $4/1 Shick Quatro Men Refill 2 - $3/1 Coppertone 2 - $1/1 Ant Spray (one in ad, one MQ) $1/1 - Aquafresh Total OOP: $22.85 SCR's $3 - Shick Quatro Women $2.49 - Aquafresh $5 - Coppertone $1 - Gum Dental Floss
Final Cost: 11.36 - Not as good I as I planned but I’ll take it!! We needed razors and suntan lotion and I in the old days would have paid $13.98 for two Target Brand suntan lotions alone!
I know some of you are thinking running to two stores no way! BUT they are across the street from each other and it is a quick stop on the way home from lunch after church.

This week at Acme wasn’t the greatest but I still got a few free items. I used some coupons on items I normally wouldn’t buy but got as treats for the kids end of school year. My oldest son “really loves” the Tyson Anytizer Chicken Fingers and also the Aunt Jemima Breakfast Entrees, at least he thinks he does since he has never had either one before. On his first day of summer vacation we will try those out. The Quaker deals were pretty good especially the $.50 cereal. I think we have enough ice cream to last us half if not the whole summer but I can already hear the squeals when I pull the Edy’s Dibs out one hot afternoon after swimming in the little pool. I rarely buy Lunchables but they will get those on the last two days of school. LOTS of treats for the kids this week!
There was nothing earth shattering over at Safeway today so it was a one stop grocery day for me.
Hope some of my deals help you plan your week at the Acme! If you are wondering where all the coupons came from check this post!

I decided I wanted to start keeping a little record of my shopping trips to use as a gauge as to how much I should be willing to pay for certain items. Stockpile - Stockpile - Stockpile - that is the strategy to really save some money. I am still in stockpile mode as we had no cleaning supplies on hand and really just a small little food stockpile. There were some great deals to be had today! I stepped foot into Safeway for the first time ever, although I think I may have been their once to get a free birthday cake for my oldest son when he turned one. It was a really nice store and since it is right across the street from my beloved Acme I can hit both on the same day. Overall I spent $79.97 OOP (out of pocket) for $315.56 worth of food and other products for a 75% SAVINGS!! Not to mention got lots of items free! My kids loved all the Mentos Gum.

Frustrated with Target
Last modified on 2009-05-23 23:46:42 GMT. 0 comments. Top.
Target was my absolute favorite store just a few short months ago (before coupon days)…..BUT not anymore! I needed to get a prescription filled for Erin so I thought I would make a few deals while there.
I printed the Target web coupons out for Pupperoni to combine with the internet coupons. First they argued with me about stacking them and then when the Target coupon wouldn’t scan they said they wont allow them if they don’t scan. Well I have NEVER had a Target coupon scan, they always print so small. I have printed them draft, normal, black&white, color and they still NEVER scan! Up until today they always just keyed them in but I guess those days are over. They did accept my other internet coupons which always scan fine. Think I will try to get by without Target from now on.
I did get:
- 6 Deluxe Kraft Mac n Cheese for $.99/box using coupons from Kraft
- 2 Pupperoni Dog Treats for $.89.bag - should have been $.39/each if Target would accept their own dumb coupon - Other coupons HERE - $1.50/1
I also had 4 coupons for $1/1 Kraft BQ sauce and expected them to be free but our Target is a bit higher than other regions and they were $1.24/ea. I am already pretty loaded for BQ sauce so I gave those away.
I think if I had tried to do the Velvetta Mac n Cheese deal there that I listed below they would have had a coronery.

So today at the Acme some silly, silly person left a whole bunch of $5 off your next purchase of $50 or more coupons still in the printer! You guessed it! I snapped them up and even used one today.
Also the BOGO Ellio Pizza deal that forums are raving you can get it all for free didn’t work for me. The store already has them BOGO and would not honor the coupon to get the paid for one free. I think if I had picked up 3 boxes that I might have been able to get two free but I am not sure.
I did two transactions today so that I could use the $5 ConAgra coupon on the next order.

This Week at Acme - 5/4
Last modified on 2009-05-23 23:48:27 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

For those of you not interested in my new coupon hobby just skip this post as it is just full of savings examples from this weeks trip. BUT it just might be inspirational to learn the art of coupons!
It wasn’t an exciting week at Acme but I still came out with a 66% overall savings so I am happy.
I did learn a couple things this week:
- Erin loves to help and this week I got too much of it. :o) I had my deals separated for different transactions and she decided to help me making piles. I am thinking in order for me to really do this I may have to start shopping on the big trips without Erin. I love her help though so will still take her on the smaller ones.
- ACME has confusing coupons! This weeks insert had store coupons on the front page that gave cereal for example at $1.49 a box/ limit 4. Well it turns out you have to have four coupons to scan to get the savings on all four. Well how stupid it that! So I had to scramble at the self checkout and find three more flyers. Stand there with a line behind me and tear all those little suckers out without ripping the bar codes. The nice checkout lady wasn’t there and I know lady that was was irritated!
- Be really careful that your item matches the picture. I got a few Mr. Clean products using the BOGO coupons from last weeks P&G leaflet. I got the only spray bottle back there that had Mr Clean on it but it wasn’t the right one. Lost $2.99 because I had to still buy the 40oz bottle to get the P&G deal but didn’t get the free one that I had a coupon for because they didn’t have it.
Ok on to the deals: Remember all products are on sale before using the coupons.
Transaction #1:
2 Mr Clean Erasers - $2.99/ea (used BOGO coupon worth $2.99)
1 Mr Clean 40oz liquid - $2.99 (this is what I messed up the free one on)
4 Herbel Essence Shampoos - $2.99/ea (used two $2/2 coupon)
Got $5 from P&G for buying $20 in P&G products
Got $3 from P&G for buying certain ones.
Total OOP: $5.94 - so it is like paying for the Mr Clean Erasers and getting all the rest for free!
Transaction #2
1 8 Roll Bounty Paper Towels - $9.99 (used $1 coupon)
1 Cascade Action Packs - $4.99 (used $1 coupon)
2 Crest Prohealth - $3/ea (used 2 $1 coupons)
Got $5 from P&G for buying $20 in P&G products
Got $3 from P&G for buying certain ones.
Total OOP: $8.98 - so it is like paying $1 less for the paper towels and getting the rest for free!
Trasaction #3
Wont bore you with all the details but some of the highlights were:
4 $.49 Kellogs cereal - and 2 $.67 cereal.
8 Knorr Pasta Sides for $.40/each
4 Cup of Noodles for $.19/each
I had to buy some stuff not on sale for our Mother’s Day dinner so my % would have been a bit higher if it were not for that.
So my overall trip I got $173.93 worth of groceries for $59.99. Once I get a stock pile to work from I hope to get it down to $50/week for a family of 5. Right now I am just grabbing up the bargains I can find until I have more of a stock pile to work from. I am already wondering how Bob will like that Herbel Essence shampoo. :o)
